I have the most recent version of the product. What version do I need to be able to scan without a subscription?

Right now when I open Neat software it asks me to log in or create an account and sign up with a subscription. I only want to scan with my Neat Desk scanner. I don't even need your software but I do like that with your software I can utilize the scanning on both sides and color options. Windows Fax and Scan is not a solution since you can't even save to PDF, never mind duplex scan. I just want a version of Neat software that will let me scan to my computer!

What is the point of selling a hardware product if you can't even use it? I have a Neat Receipt scanner that came with with a pin code, which I'm supposed to fill in during the software setup. But when I installed the software, I was never asked about the PIN code. It automatically has we sign up for an account I would have to pay for on a monthly basis.
Unless I'm missing something. The official Neat website is not very helpful either. So, could somebody from Neat (aren't we on a their website after all?) actually answer all these people's questions, who seems to be dealing with the same issues? It seems like every time there is an update, and I install it, it posts some stupid error and says to call tech support if it persists, and to look in the log. Call tech support?
Right, so i can either sit on hold for the next available. Or i get someone that i can't understand. I just want to scan and save stuff locally.

I certainly do not want my stuff on someone's 'cloud'. And i don't need the ridiculous Google cloud app.
So how do i get reliable software so i can just use this thing as a scanner? Before i throw it in the trash! I have gotten so disgusted with Neat after using it for 6 years or so, I updated my computer and Neat would no longer work with the new software. When I tried to contact them, they told me I no longer was listed and would have to pay monthly.

Well you know what I thought of that. I got rid of all my neat data because I was sooooo disgusted. Now, months later, I decided to try once more or throw my scanner away.
I got this from Maya on this site. 'if you have a mac, go into your applications and then type in the word scanner.
Find the name of the neat scanner you have. EX' Look for 'Neat Mobile Scanner' if you have the mobile one. Drag it into your doc or have it as a easy access app to click on and now you have a mobile scanner.
As far as the other neat features I am not sure but for just the scanner part this is perfect!' However, after clicking on the scanner button on the Neat screen, it said 'no document loaded'.
I didn't know what to do. I had the scanner in my doc bar but couldn't see any documents. Well.I went to the bar information (hide/show) and tried everything but eventually tried sending scan to downloads. When I went to download, there was my beautiful scan in all its majesty. Thank you Maya.
I can do it again. It doesn't total and list as pretty as Neat once did, but at least I can scan again. Thanks again. So this is how I got my Neat desk scanner to work on my updated PC.
- Installed Neat Desk scanner driver on my PC (Only if you r computer didn't have it). You can find the driver from Neat webpage here is the link - Then I installed NAPS2 FREE open source scanning software, all I need my scanner for is batch scanning and PDF files, (I don't need their organization software). The Link I used for the software is this So far my scanner is working good, though I will say it's a bit slower now. Hope this helps.
